Add milk, one egg, and vegetable shortening to a bowl.

Add mochiko, tapioca starch, sugar, and baking powder to the mixture.

Mix well until it reaches the consistency of a thick cake batter.

Transfer the batter into a bag.

Chop off the nip of the bag and pipe the batter onto parchment paper.

Heat a food loop to about 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Carefully lay the donut into the hot oil.

After about a minute, flip the donut over and remove the parchment paper.

Remove the donut when it turns golden.

Combine powdered sugar, a little bit of milk, and some strawberry preserves to make a glaze.

Dip or drizzle the glaze over the donuts.

Sprinkle crushed strawberry wafers on top.
