Oven Baked BBQ Ribs

Directions

  1. 1Remove excess fat from the ribs using a sharp knife.
  2. 2Remove the membrane from the ribs using a knife or spoon and a paper towel to help with grip.
  3. 3Add liquid smoke to the ribs.
  4. 4Add yellow mustard to the ribs as a binder.
  5. 5Apply AP seasoning and your favorite BBQ rub to the ribs.
  6. 6Bake the ribs uncovered in the oven at 275° for about 2 1/2 hours.
  7. 7Prepare the sauce by combining butter, brown sugar, ketchup, chipotle peppers in adobo (juice only), honey, and molasses in a pan.
  8. 8Mix the sauce over medium-low heat.
  9. 9Once the ribs are tender (check with a meat thermometer), unwrap them.
  10. 10Place the ribs meat-side down on a bed of butter, brown sugar, and honey.
  11. 11Top with more butter, brown sugar, and honey, then wrap tightly in aluminum foil.
  12. 12Return the ribs to the oven at 275° for another 1 1/2 hours.
  13. 13Unwrap the ribs, coat them with BBQ sauce, and bake at 325° until the sauce caramelizes.

  • 0.25 cup fruit juice, beer, or broth
  • 2 tbsps butter
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 0.25 cup molasses
  • 0.25 cup honey
  • 1 can chipotles in adobo
  • 1 AP Seasoning
  • 1 dash liquid smoke
