Serves 1

Directions

  1. 1Add the macaroni pasta to a saucepan.
  2. 2Add salt to the pasta.
  3. 3Add water to barely cover the pasta.
  4. 4Stir the pasta in the water.
  5. 5Cook the pasta until it is nearly done and most of the water has been absorbed.
  6. 6Add evaporated milk to the pasta once it's nearly al dente.
  7. 7Stir the evaporated milk into the pasta.
  8. 8Let it simmer just for a moment, being careful not to bring it to a full boil.
  9. 9Add shredded cheddar cheese to the pasta.
  10. 10Stir the cheese into the pasta until it is melted and creamy.

Ingredients

  • macaroni pasta
  • salt
  • water
  • evaporated milk
  • shredded cheddar cheese

Equipment

saucepanwooden spoonfork

Tips

  • Use a narrower saucepan for cooking the pasta.
  • Barely cover the pasta with water to prevent it from evaporating too soon.
  • When adding evaporated milk, do not bring it to a full boil; a small simmer for a moment is enough.
  • You can take the noodles off the heat after adding the milk, and they will continue to soften.
  • Do not use pre-shredded cheese for the best results.
