Directions

  1. 1Remove any giblets or bags from inside the turkey.
  2. 2Pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
  3. 3Prepare the first butter mixture by adding butter, olive oil, oregano, thyme leaves, rosemary, lemon zest, lemon juice, garlic, salt, and pepper into a blender.
  4. 4Blend the first butter mixture until smooth.
  5. 5Prepare the second butter mixture by melting butter in a bowl.
  6. 6Add onion powder, garlic powder, thyme powder, and paprika to the melted butter and mix.
  7. 7Inject the melted, seasoned butter into various parts of the turkey using a basting syringe.
  8. 8Use a spoon to create small cavities under the turkey skin.
  9. 9Spread the blended butter mixture evenly under the skin and all over the turkey.
  10. 10Stuff the lemon halves, parsley, and any leftover herbs into the turkey cavity.
  11. 11Place the turkey in a roasting pan and add some stock to the bottom of the tray.
  12. 12Roast the turkey in the oven at 340 degrees Fahrenheit for approximately 3 hours.
  13. 13Every half hour, collect the juices from the tray and inject them back into the turkey, and also baste the turkey with the juices.
  14. 14Cover the wingtips with aluminum foil if they start to burn.
  15. 15Once cooked, cover the turkey with aluminum foil and let it rest for 30 minutes to allow the juices to soak in.
  16. 16Carve the turkey and serve.

Tips

  • Pat the turkey dry before seasoning for crispier skin.
  • Injecting melted butter mixed with seasonings directly into the turkey helps keep it moist and flavorful.
  • Using a spoon to create a cavity under the skin makes it easier to apply the flavored butter.
  • Baste the turkey every half hour with the pan juices to keep it moist.
  • Cover wingtips with aluminum foil to prevent them from burning.
  • Let the turkey rest covered in aluminum foil for half an hour after cooking to allow the juices to soak in.
