Directions

  1. 1Heat up a pot and add in some extra virgin olive oil.
  2. 2Add in your meat and let it cook until browned on all sides (about three minutes on medium-high heat).
  3. 3Add garlic powder, salt, pepper, ground cumin, chili powder, and onion powder to the meat.
  4. 4Mix well until all spices are blended.
  5. 5Turn your heat down to medium, cover, and let it cook for about 45 minutes.
  6. 6Dice one large yellow onion, one jalapeño (removing seeds if desired), and one red bell pepper.
  7. 7Chop one bunch of cilantro.
  8. 8After 45 minutes, add the diced onion, bell pepper, jalapeño, and cilantro to the pot.
  9. 9Add about a tablespoon of minced garlic.
  10. 10Mix and let it cook until the onion is translucent.
  11. 11In a separate container, mix two tablespoons of flour with one and three quarter cups of water until well blended.
  12. 12Add one 8 oz can of tomato sauce to the flour and water mixture and blend again.
  13. 13Once the onion is translucent, pour the tomato gravy mixture into the pot.
  14. 14Mix and scrape the bottom of the pot to incorporate all the extra spices.
  15. 15Cover and let this cook for about an hour and a half.

  • 1 diced and seeded bell pepper (any color you prefer)
  • 1 large yellow onion, finely diced
  • 1 diced jalapeño (seeds removed, optional for extra heat)
  • 0.33 cup finely chopped cilantro
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1.5 teaspoons ground cumin
  • extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 0.75 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 0.5 cup tomato sauce

Tips

  • Remove jalapeño seeds for less heat.
  • Scrape the bottom of the pot to incorporate all spices into the gravy.
