Directions

  1. 1Drain six 3lb cans of Van Camp's pork and beans using a strainer, shaking them out but not rinsing them.
  2. 2Place the drained beans into a large aluminum pan.
  3. 3Cut and fry 1.5 pounds of bacon in a pan until golden brown.
  4. 4Fry 1 pound of hot breakfast sausage in a separate pan.
  5. 5Add the cooked sausage, including the grease, into the pan with the beans.
  6. 6Stir the sausage into the beans.
  7. 7Add the fried bacon, including the grease, to the pan with the beans and sausage.
  8. 8Mix the bacon into the beans and sausage.
  9. 9Sprinkle 2 pounds of brown sugar over the mixture.
  10. 10Add two 10oz bags of chopped onions over the mixture.
  11. 11Squeeze ketchup liberally over the top.
  12. 12Squeeze yellow mustard liberally over the top.
  13. 13Stir all ingredients together until well combined.
  14. 14Cover the pan with aluminum foil and bake in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 3 hours.
  15. 15Remove the foil and bake for an additional hour to achieve a nice top glaze.
  16. 16Remove the baked beans from the oven.
  17. 17Serve and enjoy the perfect baked beans.
