Directions

Wash the rice and moong dal well.

Add 1 tablespoon of ghee to a pressure cooker.

Fry the washed rice and dal until their color changes.

Add 6 cups of hot water to the rice and dal.

Cook for 5 whistles in medium flame.

Take 1 1/2 cups of jaggery in a bowl and add 2 tablespoons of water.

Melt the jaggery to create a syrup.

Add 1 tablespoon of ghee to a frying pan.

Fry cashews, dry coconut pieces, raisins, and cloves until golden brown.

Once the rice and dal are cooked, open the pressure cooker.

Strain the jaggery syrup into the cooked rice and dal.

Mix well with the rice.

Cook for 3-5 minutes on a low flame.

Add 1 tablespoon of ghee, the fried dry fruits and nuts, and 1 teaspoon of elachi to the pongali.

Mix everything thoroughly.

Serve the Chakkera Pongali.
