Ermine Frosting

Directions

  1. 1Add five tablespoons of flour to a pan.
  2. 2Add one cup of sugar and a quarter teaspoon of salt.
  3. 3Whisk the flour, sugar, and salt together.
  4. 4Put the mixture over medium heat.
  5. 5Get one cup of milk ready to have on hand.
  6. 6Slowly add in the one cup of milk to the mixture.
  7. 7Mix this very well to ensure there are no clumps.
  8. 8When the mixture starts bubbling, stir very consistently to prevent scorching to the bottom of the pan.
  9. 9Once you can see the bottom of the pan when stirring, take it off the heat.
  10. 10Scrape the pan out with a squeegee or spatula and transfer the mixture into a regular bowl.
  11. 11Place saran wrap over the bowl, making sure to press it down directly onto the frosting base.
  12. 12Place the bowl in the fridge until it has cooled down completely.
  13. 13Add a cup of butter to your stand mixer.
  14. 14Mix the butter until it is nice and fluffy, stopping occasionally to scrape the bowl down.
  15. 15Slowly add in your cooled flour and sugar mixture.
