Baked Kufta Rolls

Directions

  1. 1Grate the onion.
  2. 2Squeeze out excess liquid from the grated onion using a cloth.
  3. 3Finely chop the parsley.
  4. 4Combine ground beef, shredded onion, chopped parsley, salt, and Arabic 7 Spice in a bowl.
  5. 5Mix the ingredients thoroughly to form the kufta.
  6. 6Lay out 3-4 sheets of filo dough, oiling between each layer.
  7. 7Lay a line of kufta along the edge of the filo dough.
  8. 8Roll the filo dough tightly around the kufta.
  9. 9Slice the rolled kufta into individual pieces.
  10. 10Place the kufta rolls standing up in a pan.
  11. 11Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30 minutes.
  12. 12Sauté tomato paste in olive oil.
  13. 13Add water to the tomato paste and bring to a simmer.
  14. 14Cover the tomato sauce and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  15. 15Remove the baked kufta rolls from the oven.
  16. 16Spoon some tomato sauce over each roll and pour the remaining sauce on the bottom of the pan.
