Combine brown sugar, water, maple syrup, and one tablespoon of flour in a pot.

Stir the syrup mixture and bring it to a boil on the stove.

In a separate bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt.

Cream together the room temperature butter and sugar.

Add two eggs, 3/4 cup of milk, and a teaspoon of vanilla to the creamed butter and sugar mixture, and mix well.

Slowly combine the wet and dry ingredients until just incorporated, then finish mixing with a spatula.

Grease a baking dish with butter.

Spread the cake batter evenly at the bottom of the greased baking dish.

Pour the prepared syrup directly on top of the cake batter in the baking dish.

Bake in an oven preheated to 425 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 to 40 minutes, or until the top is golden.

Let the Pouding Chômeur cool down before serving.

2.5 teaspoons baking powder

0.5 cup butter
1 cup sugar

0.75 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla

Tips
Do not worry about presentation.
Scoop it upside down to serve.
Allow the pudding to cool off before eating.
