Directions

  1. 1In a mixing bowl, add rapid rise yeast, sugar, warm water, oil, salt, garlic powder (if desired), and dry Italian herbs.
  2. 2Mix well and let the yeast bloom.
  3. 3Once the yeast has bloomed, add plain flour and knead with a dough hook for 6-8 minutes, or more than 10 minutes by hand.
  4. 4Coat the bowl and the dough with oil to prevent drying.
  5. 5Let the dough rise until it doubles or triples in volume (about 30 minutes).
  6. 6For the sauce, combine tomatoes, red bell pepper, onion, garlic, carrot, water, and salt in a pressure cooker.
  7. 7Boil the vegetables until soft.
  8. 8If desired, remove the skin of the tomatoes and bell pepper before blending.
  9. 9Transfer the boiled vegetables to a blender and blend until nice and smooth.
  10. 10Add paprika (very mild flavor) and sugar (optional) to the blended sauce and mix well.
  11. 11Stir in finely chopped basil leaves.
  12. 12Punch down the risen dough and knead it again on a floured surface.
  13. 13Roll out the dough into desired pizza shapes (e.g., one large and one medium).
  14. 14Optionally, cover the rolled out pizza dough and let it rise slightly again.
  15. 15Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  16. 16Spread the prepared sauce over the pizza dough.
  17. 17Spread some cheese over the sauce.
  18. 18Sprinkle with desired toppings like onion, colorful sweet peppers, jalapeno, tomato slices, and olives.
  19. 19Add more cheese on top of the vegetables.
  20. 20Lightly press the toppings into the dough to prevent separation from the crust.
  21. 21Place the pizza into the preheated oven.
  22. 22Bake for about 20 minutes, or until the bottom of the pizza crust is golden brown.
  23. 23Remove the pizza from the oven, slice, and serve.
