Garlic Aioli Steak Sandwich

Directions

  1. 1Start by melting the butter in a saucepan.
  2. 2Once melted, add in the onion, stirring over low heat.
  3. 3Season the steak all over with salt and pepper.
  4. 4Add the steak to a hot frying pan.
  5. 5Cook the steak for 1 minute each side for medium rare.
  6. 6Once cooked, remove the steak from the pan and leave to rest.
  7. 7Check on the onions and add a splash of water in increments to help them to brown, giving them a good stir.
  8. 8If using bake at home rolls, follow the packet instructions for cooking now.
  9. 9Whilst the onions brown, make the garlic aioli sauce with the listed ingredients and set to one side.
  10. 10Slice the ciabatta rolls in half.
  11. 11Add the cheese slices to the ciabatta rolls and melt under the grill or in the oven.
  12. 12Meanwhile, slice the steak into small pieces.
  13. 13Once you have sliced the steak, in a bowl toss the rocket salad with balsamic glaze if using.
  14. 14Add half of the garlic aioli to the bottom of the ciabattas.
  15. 15Top with the rocket salad, steak, the cooked onions and remaining garlic aioli drizzled all over the top.

  • 10 g light butter
  • White onion sliced
  • 200 g steak (Ribeye)
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 2 ciabatta rolls (Tesco bake at home)
  • 2 light cheese slices (Leerdammer Light)
  • 2 handfuls rocket
  • 10 ml balsamic glaze
  • 45 g fat free greek yoghurt
  • 20 g lighter than light mayonnaise
  • 1 Tsp lemon juice
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 0.5 tsp garlic granules
  • 0.25 tsp chopped garlic

Tips
