Directions
1
Add 4 to 4.5 cups of bread flour into a large bowl.
2
Add 2 and 1/4 teaspoons or one packet of fast-rising yeast directly into the flour.
3
Add 2 tablespoons of light brown sugar.
4
Add 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of salt.
5
Whisk all dry ingredients to ensure they are spread throughout the flour.
6
Pour 1/4 cup of oil into the mixture.
7
Add 1 and 1/2 cups of warm water.
8
Start stirring the mixture in the bowl with a spatula.
9
Turn the mixture out onto a clean surface once it looks like a shaggy dough.
10
Gather the dough and begin kneading all the dry flour in.
11
Spray the bowl with oil.
12
Place the kneaded dough into the oiled bowl.
13
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the dough rise until it doubles in size for about an hour.
14
Turn the proofed dough onto a clean surface.
15
Preheat your oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
16
Cut a side off the dough using a pizza cutter.
17
Roll out the dough portion into a long rope.
18
Form the pretzel by setting the middle of the rope down, crossing the ends, crossing them again, and sticking the ends down.
19
Get a shallow dish and pour some water in.
20
Sprinkle in about 1/4 cup of baking soda into the water.
21
Dip both sides of the pretzel into the baking soda water.
22
Place the dipped pretzel onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
23
Brush all your pretzels with an egg wash.
24
Sprinkle the pretzels with pretzel sea salt or coarse sea salt.
25
Bake the pretzels in your 450-degree oven for 10 minutes.
