1
Pat the ribs dry with a paper towel.
2
Apply Worcestershire sauce as a binder to both sides of the ribs.
3
Coat both sides of the ribs with your favorite barbecue rub.
4
Place the seasoned ribs on the smoker at 250 degrees Fahrenheit.
5
Smoke the ribs for approximately 3 hours.
6
While the ribs are smoking, prepare the barbecue sauce by pouring 12 ounces of Dr. Pepper into a pan.
7
Add 1/2 cup of brown sugar to the Dr. Pepper.
8
Add 2 tablespoons of paprika to the sauce mixture.
9
Add 2 tablespoons of garlic powder to the sauce mixture.
10
Add 2 tablespoons of onion powder to the sauce mixture.
11
Add 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce to the sauce mixture.
12
Pour 1 cup of ketchup into the sauce mixture.
13
Whisk the barbecue sauce ingredients together.
14
Let the barbecue sauce simmer for about 15 minutes.
15
After 3 hours of smoking, remove the ribs from the smoker.
16
Place the smoked ribs on a sheet of butcher paper.
17
Top the ribs with additional barbecue seasoning.
18
Sprinkle brown sugar over the ribs.
19
Add a few pats of butter on top of the ribs.
20
Wrap the ribs tightly in butcher paper, then in aluminum foil.
21
Return the wrapped ribs to the smoker for an additional 1.5 to 2 hours.
22
With about 30 minutes left in the cook, unwrap the ribs.
23
Generously coat the ribs with the homemade barbecue sauce.
24
Rewrap the sauced ribs and place them back on the smoker to allow the flavor to soak in.
25
Once cooked, remove the ribs from the smoker.
26
Slice the ribs into individual portions.
27
Serve the ribs with additional barbecue sauce, if desired.
