Tiramisu Cinnamon Rolls

Directions

  1. 1Add warm milk, sugar, melted butter, and yeast into a large bowl and mix.
  2. 2Add eggs, salt, and instant espresso to the bowl and mix.
  3. 3Add flour to the mixture.
  4. 4Knead the dough for 8-10 minutes.
  5. 5Let the dough rise for an hour or until doubled in size.
  6. 6Mix softened unsalted butter, brown sugar, white sugar, heavy cream, vanilla, and salt for the bottom layer.
  7. 7Add the bottom layer mixture to the bottom of the baking tray before adding the rolls.
  8. 8Cream together softened unsalted butter and brown sugar for the coffee filling.
  9. 9Add cocoa powder, instant espresso, cinnamon, and salt to the butter and sugar mixture and mix well.
  10. 10Roll out the dough and spread the coffee filling mixture evenly on it.
  11. 11Roll up the dough and cut into 8 equal pieces.
  12. 12Let the cut rolls rise for another hour.
  13. 13Bake at 350°F for 25-30 minutes, checking around the 23-minute mark.
  14. 14Cream together mascarpone and heavy cream until combined for the icing.
  15. 15Add sugar and vanilla to the mascarpone cream and mix.
  16. 16Spread the mascarpone cream icing on top of the mostly cooled cinnamon rolls.
  17. 17Dust with cocoa powder.

Tips

  • If using active dry yeast, activate it in warm milk and sugar first.
  • The bottom layer can be skipped if you don't want extra gooey rolls.
  • Use any type of cocoa powder for the coffee filling.
  • For a thinner icing, add a tablespoon or so of heavy cream.
  • Ensure cinnamon rolls are mostly cooled before spreading icing to prevent melting.
