Seoully Cheesesteak

Directions

  1. 1Add oil and butter to a cast iron pan over medium-high heat.
  2. 2Add the thinly sliced ribeye or chuck to the pan in a single layer, ensuring not to overcrowd it, and let it caramelize on the bottom.
  3. 3Using a mandoline, thinly slice the onion.
  4. 4Add the sliced onion on top of the meat.
  5. 5Thinly slice the leek top.
  6. 6Add the sliced leek on top of the onion and meat.
  7. 7Sprinkle brown sugar over the meat, onions, and leeks.
  8. 8Flip everything together in the pan.
  9. 9Deglaze with soy sauce and cook until the liquid evaporates.
  10. 10Place slices of American cheese on top of the cooked meat and vegetables.
  11. 11Cover the pan with a lid and let the cheese melt for three minutes.
  12. 12Cut the hard roll in half lengthwise.
  13. 13Place the halved hard roll directly onto the melted cheese.
  14. 14Scoop the meat and cheese mixture into the roll using a spatula.
  15. 15Sprinkle sesame seeds on top of the filling.
  16. 16Add extra cheese if desired.
  17. 17Wrap the sandwich tightly in aluminum foil.
  18. 18Place the wrapped sandwich in the oven to keep it warm and allow the juices to settle.
  19. 19Cut the wrapped sandwich in half.

  • 10 slices American cheese
  • 1 hard roll
  • 1 tbsp neutral oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • sesame seeds
