Apple Pie Pop Tarts with Cinnamon Icing

Directions

  1. 1Peel and dice apples.
  2. 2Combine diced apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, allspice, flour and lemon.
  3. 3Place diced apples in a sauce pan with margarine and cook until apples are softened.
  4. 4Place thawed puff pastry on floured surface.
  5. 5Slice down lengthwise and then across, forming rectangles.
  6. 6Place apple pie filling on half of the rectangles. Cover with the remaining rectangles.
  7. 7Using a fork, press down around the edges.
  8. 8Brush tops of puff pastry with whisked egg.
  9. 9Place on parchment lined baking sheet and bake on 350 degrees for about 20 to 25 minutes or until puff pastry is lightly puffed and cooked.
  10. 10Allow to cool off before topping with cinnamon glaze.

  • puff pastry dough, thawed
  • 1 tbsp margarine
  • 1 egg, whisked
  • 2 large apple, peeled and diced
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp allspice
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 whole lemon juice
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp almond milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/8 tsp cinnamon

Tips

  • Canola oil or coconut oil can be used as a substitute for margarine.
