Grab a large russet potato, about a pound, and cut it into small bite-sized pieces.
Throw the potatoes in a hot oiled pan, add some salt and some pepper, and cook them for a while with the lid on, stirring occasionally, until soft.
Once the potatoes are soft, throw them in an 8x8 baking dish.
Drop a pound of ground beef into the same pan, break it up, and add half of a diced white onion.
Cook the ground beef and onions until the meat is brown and the onions are soft.
Season the meat mixture with some salt, some pepper, about a half a teaspoon of garlic powder, a half a teaspoon of onion powder, and two teaspoons of yellow mustard.
Stir it all together and cook for about a minute.
Mix the cooked meat mixture in with your potatoes in the baking dish.
Top it with a handful of freshly shredded cheddar cheese.
Throw some foil on it and put it in the oven at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes.
While the casserole is in the oven, make the homemade Big Mac sauce by combining half a cup of mayonnaise, two tablespoons of sweet relish, a teaspoon of yellow mustard, a half a teaspoon of paprika, a half a teaspoon of onion powder, a half a teaspoon of garlic powder, and a teaspoon of white vinegar.
Whisk all the sauce ingredients until beautifully combined.
When the timer goes off, get the casserole out of the oven, rip the foil off.
Cover the casserole with the Big Mac sauce.
Top it with some fresh shredded lettuce, one diced tomato, maybe some more onions if desired, and some chopped pickles.
Grab a spatula, cut a piece out, and put it on a plate.
Grab a fork, scoop up a big bite, and enjoy.
