Jamaican Steamed Cabbage Egg Rolls

Directions

  1. 1Slice the cabbage with a mandoline.
  2. 2Julienne the carrot with a julien peeler.
  3. 3Slice or crumble the tofu and place it on a baking tray.
  4. 4Drizzle oil over the tofu.
  5. 5Season the tofu with paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, and salt.
  6. 6Bake the tofu in the oven at 200°C for 15 minutes.
  7. 7Add oil to a pan.
  8. 8Sauté the onion and garlic for 1 minute.
  9. 9Add carrots, bell pepper, spring onions, thyme, and scotch bonnet to the pan and cook for a few minutes.
  10. 10Add diced tomato and ginger to the pan.
  11. 11Stir the vegetables in the pan.
  12. 12Add the sliced cabbage to the pan.
  13. 13Add the roasted tofu to the pan.
  14. 14Season with sea salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and black pepper.
  15. 15Stir everything together and cook until the cabbage softens.
  16. 16Cool the steamed cabbage mixture.
  17. 17Place a fried plantain on a spring roll pastry.
  18. 18Add a portion of the steamed cabbage mixture onto the pastry with the plantain.
  19. 19Fold the spring roll pastry over the filling.
  20. 20Roll up the pastry tightly.
  21. 21Seal the edges of the spring roll with plant milk.
  22. 22Brush the spring rolls with oil.
  23. 23Fry or air-fry the spring rolls until golden and crispy.
  24. 24Serve the egg rolls with a sweet chili sauce.
