Add half a gallon of whole milk to a large pot.

Heat the milk to 115°F over medium heat, stirring occasionally.

Add one-third cup (or about 7 tablespoons) of white vinegar to the milk.

Mix for about a minute until curds start to form.

Cover the pot and let it sit for 15 minutes.

Strain the curds from the whey using a cheesecloth and a ladle.

Squeeze as much whey from the curds as possible.

Place the curds in a microwave-safe bowl and heat for 30 seconds.

Remove any extra whey from the bowl.

Carefully fold and stretch the warm cheese into a ball.

Place the mozzarella ball in a bowl.

Add cold water and a pinch of salt to create a brine.

Let the mozzarella sit in the brine for 10-15 minutes.

Remove and slice the mozzarella cheese to serve.
