Fluffy Dinner Rolls

Directions

  1. 1Start with one and a half cups of warm whole milk, it should be about 110 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. 2Stir in one tablespoon of granulated sugar and whisk that to combine.
  3. 3Sprinkle the top with one tablespoon of active dry yeast.
  4. 4Let that rest for a minute, then whisk the yeast into the milk mixture.
  5. 5Set it aside and let it proof for about five minutes or until the yeast looks foamy.
  6. 6Add four tablespoons of warm melted unsalted butter.
  7. 7Add the rest of your 1/3 cup of sugar, and one and a quarter teaspoons of salt.
  8. 8Add just under four cups of all-purpose flour.
  9. 9Add the flour just half a cup at a time and whisking to incorporate between each addition.
  10. 10Add flour using a dough hook attachment to the mixer for 2 more minutes.
  11. 11Transfer it to a well-oiled large mixing bowl.
  12. 12Cover that with plastic wrap and let it rest and rise in a warm room for about two hours or until the dough is doubled in size.
  13. 13Lightly dust a clean and smooth work surface with flour.
  14. 14Turn the dough out onto your floured surface.
  15. 15Divide the dough into individual rolls.
  16. 16Oil a 9x13 casserole dish.
  17. 17Add your dinner rolls so they're evenly spaced in the pan.
  18. 18Cover those with plastic wrap and let those rise in a warm place for about an hour or until they're visibly puffed.
  19. 19Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  20. 20Brush the tops with one tablespoon of melted butter.
  21. 21Sprinkle the tops with a little bit of kosher salt while the butter is still fresh and melted.
  22. 22Bake those in the center of a preheating oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for about 23 to 25 minutes.
  23. 23Let the rolls cool slightly before serving.
