Directions
1
Start with one and a half cups of warm whole milk, it should be about 110 degrees Fahrenheit.
2
Stir in one tablespoon of granulated sugar and whisk that to combine.
3
Sprinkle the top with one tablespoon of active dry yeast.
4
Let that rest for a minute, then whisk the yeast into the milk mixture.
5
Set it aside and let it proof for about five minutes or until the yeast looks foamy.
6
Add four tablespoons of warm melted unsalted butter.
7
Add the rest of your 1/3 cup of sugar, and one and a quarter teaspoons of salt.
8
Add just under four cups of all-purpose flour.
9
Add the flour just half a cup at a time and whisking to incorporate between each addition.
10
Add flour using a dough hook attachment to the mixer for 2 more minutes.
11
Transfer it to a well-oiled large mixing bowl.
12
Cover that with plastic wrap and let it rest and rise in a warm room for about two hours or until the dough is doubled in size.
13
Lightly dust a clean and smooth work surface with flour.
14
Turn the dough out onto your floured surface.
15
Divide the dough into individual rolls.
16
Oil a 9x13 casserole dish.
17
Add your dinner rolls so they're evenly spaced in the pan.
18
Cover those with plastic wrap and let those rise in a warm place for about an hour or until they're visibly puffed.
19
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
20
Brush the tops with one tablespoon of melted butter.
21
Sprinkle the tops with a little bit of kosher salt while the butter is still fresh and melted.
22
Bake those in the center of a preheating oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for about 23 to 25 minutes.
23
Let the rolls cool slightly before serving.
