Salisbury Steak with Onion Gravy

Directions

  1. 1In a large mixing bowl combine an egg, milk, Worcestershire sauce, dried minced onion, black pepper, salt, and breadcrumbs.
  2. 2Mix everything well using your hands.
  3. 3Add ground beef and mix well with hands until combined.
  4. 4Form the mixture into classic oval shapes.
  5. 5In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the patties for about two minutes per side.
  6. 6Flip the patties and let them cook for another two minutes per side.
  7. 7Remove the Salisbury steaks from the pan.
  8. 8Add sliced, diced, or chopped yellow onions to the skillet and sauté for two to three minutes until they begin to sweat.
  9. 9Add beef base and two cups of water, stir to dissolve the beef base.
  10. 10Return the Salisbury steaks back into the skillet.
  11. 11Bring the mixture to a simmer, cover, reduce the heat to medium-low, and let it simmer for 45 minutes to an hour.
  12. 12Add cornstarch slurry to thicken up the gravy.
  13. 13Mix well to incorporate the cornstarch slurry into the gravy.
