Directions

  1. 1Fry mung dal in a pan and put it in a bowl.
  2. 2Add mash dal in the same quantity, wash both dals, and soak them for some time.
  3. 3Put dal into the pot and add water.
  4. 4Add chopped onions, salt, and turmeric powder.
  5. 5Add soybean oil, bay leaves, cinnamon, and cardamom.
  6. 6Add chopped tomatoes and let it simmer.
  7. 7Mix well with a whisk.
  8. 8Add cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt.
  9. 9Mix it well, and then add more water if required.
  10. 10For bhagar, heat oil in a pan and add chopped onions, cumin seeds, and garlic paste.
  11. 11Add dried red chilies.
  12. 12Pour the mixture on the Dal and mix.
  13. 13Add chopped green chilies, coriander leaves, and mix well.

  • 0.5 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 100 grams Soybean oil
  • some Bay leaves

  • 2 Tomatoes
  • 0.5 teaspoon Cumin powder
  • a little Coriander powder
  • some Oil
  • a little Cumin seeds
  • 2 tablespoons Garlic paste
  • some Dried red chilies
  • some Green chilies
  • some Coriander leaves

Tips

  • When making Dal, balance Mung dal with Mash dal.
  • Fry the Mung dal well for a better taste.
  • Add a bit more onion and garlic to the Dal for better taste.
  • Add more water for a thin Dal and less water for a thicker Dal.
