Onion Bhaji

Directions

  1. 1Slice the onions and place them in a bowl.
  2. 2In a separate mixing bowl, combine chickpea flour, chili flakes, cumin seeds, and turmeric powder.
  3. 3Add chopped cilantro to the flour mixture and stir.
  4. 4Add the sliced onions to the flour mixture and mix well.
  5. 5Heat oil in a wok and scoop portions of the onion mixture into the hot oil.
  6. 6Fry the bhaji until crispy, using a wooden spoon to stir and turn them.
  7. 7To make the dipping sauce, combine sour cream, mayonnaise, lemon juice, and seasonings in a bowl, stirring until smooth.

  • 3 whole onion, sliced
  • 1 cup chickpea flour
  • 1 tsp chili flakes
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 cup cilantro, roughly chopped
  • 1 cup cooking oil
  • 2 tbsp sour cream
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1/2 whole lemon juice
  • 1 pinch seasoning

Tips

  • Yogurt can be used instead of the sour cream and mayonnaise mix for the dipping sauce.
