Soak chana dal for 3-4 hours.

Add salt and turmeric powder to chana dal and boil.

Cover the pan and cook for 15-20 minutes on low flame.

Blend garlic, onion, green chilies and tomatoes in a blender.

Add oil, cumin seeds and asafoetida in hot pan and saute for a while.

After cooking on low flame, add the blended ingredients.

Add basic spices like Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder, Turmeric Powder, Coriander Powder and Salt.

When oil separates add curd.

After mixing well, add one chopped onion.

Add boiled split chickpeas.

Add dry fenugreek leaves and garam masala and cook for 10 minutes more.

Serve with roti or paratha.

1 ltrs water
to taste salt
1 tsp turmeric
1.5 tsp ghee/ oil
1 tsp jeera
0.33 tsp hing
1 onion
2 green chillies
2 tomatoes
7 garlic cloves
1 tsp Kashmiri chilli
0.5 tsp turmeric
1 tbsp Dhaniya powder
to taste salt
1 tsp garam masala
0.5 tsp kasoori methi
coriander leaves
