Roasted Chana Dal

Directions

  1. 1Wash the Chana Dal 2 to 3 times.
  2. 2Add baking soda and hot water to the washed Chana Dal.
  3. 3Soak the Chana Dal for 3 to 4 hours.
  4. 4Dehydrate fresh coriander and green chilies in the microwave to make coriander masala.
  5. 5Grind the dehydrated coriander and green chilies with citric acid, asafoetida, salt, black salt, jeera powder, and sugar to make a fine powder.
  6. 6Pat dry the soaked Chana Dal.
  7. 7Bake the Chana Dal for approximately 30 minutes at 180 degrees.
  8. 8Sprinkle the tangy coriander masala generously over the baked Chana Dal.

  • 0.5 tsp Baking Soda
  • as required Hot water
  • 0.5 Cup Fresh Coriander
  • 3 Green Chillies
  • 0.25 tsp Asafoetida
  • to taste Salt
  • 0.25 tsp Black Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Jeera Powder
  • 0.125 tsp Citric acid
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • oil

Tips

  • Soak the Chana Dal for a minimum of 4 hours and a maximum of 8 hours.
  • Optionally drizzle some oil while baking to retain moisture.
