Spam Musubi

Directions

  1. 1Pour short grain rice into a measuring cup.
  2. 2Wash and rinse the rice five to six times.
  3. 3After rinsing, put rice in a pot and add cold water.
  4. 4Turn the heat to high and let it boil then turn it down to medium heat and put a lid on top and leave it there for 7 minutes.
  5. 5Pull down to low heat.
  6. 6After 7 minutes, turn the heat off and leave it for another 7 minutes without opening the lid.
  7. 7Add salt, sugar, white wine vinegar and rice wine vinegar into a pot for the sticky rice sauce.
  8. 8Cook at a medium low temperature and stir until the sugar dissolves.
  9. 9Add the sauce to the rice gradually and mix it.
  10. 10Keep it covered with a damp towel.
  11. 11Open the spam can and take it out.
  12. 12Cut the spam into quarter inch slices.
  13. 13Add sugar, teriyaki sauce, and sesame oil into a small bowl and mix for the spam sauce.
  14. 14Heat up a pan and add the spam.
  15. 15After they are golden brown, flip.
  16. 16After one minute, add the sauce and flip.
  17. 17Once they are cooked, remove.
  18. 18Grab your nori sheets and cut them into three equal parts.
  19. 19Grab your spam cam and put some saran wrap on top of it and stuff the rice into it.
  20. 20Press it down with a small spatula.
  21. 21Grab your spam and put it inside.
  22. 22Grab the saran wrap and pull it out.
  23. 23Take it out the saran wrap and grab your sheet and place it on the middle and wrap it.
  24. 24Add a little bit of rice to make it stick together.
  25. 25Repeat the process.
  26. 26Add spicy mayo and enjoy.

  • 2 cups short grain rice
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 cup sugar
  • 0.25 cup white wine vinegar
  • 0.25 cup rice vinegar
  • spam
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • nori sheets
  • spicy mayo

Tips

  • Wash and rinse rice five to six times.
