Homemade Tahini

Directions

  1. 1In a saucepan, add 1 cup of untoasted white sesame seeds.
  2. 2Toast the sesame seeds for about 3 to 5 minutes on medium heat until they are lightly toasted and light in color.
  3. 3Transfer the toasted sesame seeds into a food processor.
  4. 4Blend for about a minute until it becomes a thick paste or powdery; scrape the bottom if needed.
  5. 5Pour in about 3 to 4 tablespoons of neutral oil (vegetable, canola, or avocado oil).
  6. 6Continue blending, scraping down the sides as needed, until the mixture is completely smooth.
  7. 7Transfer the homemade tahini into a jar or container.

Tips

  • Do not brown the sesame seeds; they should remain light in color.
