My Korean Grandma's Bulgogi Recipe

Directions

  1. 1Peel beef layers one by one and place them in a bowl.
  2. 2Add 1/4 cup of olive oil to the beef.
  3. 3Add 1/4 cup of sesame oil to the beef.
  4. 4Mix 1/2 cup of sugar and 1/2 cup of dark soy sauce together in a separate bowl.
  5. 5Add black pepper and plum extract to the sugar and soy sauce mixture.
  6. 6Whisk the mixture for 10 minutes until well combined.
  7. 7Prepare the marinade ingredients: pear, white onion, garlic, and ginger.
  8. 8Add pear, white onion, garlic, and ginger to a blender.
  9. 9Add 1 cup of water to the blender and blend until smooth.
  10. 10Pour the blended marinade ingredients into the whisked sauce mixture.
  11. 11Add the prepared marinade to the beef.
  12. 12Add green onions, onions, and sesame seeds to the beef and marinade.
  13. 13Massage the marinade into the beef by hand.
  14. 14Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and marinate the bulgogi overnight.
  15. 15Cook the bulgogi on the stove top for 7-10 minutes on high heat.
  16. 16Serve the cooked bulgogi in a bowl.
