Green Beans, Tofu & Pork Stir Fry

Directions

  1. 1Roughly chop the garlic.
  2. 2Line up your green beans with the stem at the top and trim it off.
  3. 3Cut the green beans in half.
  4. 4Cut the firm tofu in half and then cut them into cubes.
  5. 5Prepare the sauce by adding water, oyster sauce, regular soy sauce, dark soy sauce for color, chicken bouillon, sugar for balance, and white or black pepper to a measuring cup.
  6. 6Give the sauce a good stir.
  7. 7Add oil to your wok.
  8. 8Add the tofu to the wok.
  9. 9Leave the tofu alone for a couple of minutes on each side so it turns nice and golden.
  10. 10Set the fried tofu aside.
  11. 11Add a little more oil to the wok.
  12. 12Add the garlic to the wok and sauté for 30 seconds.
  13. 13Add your ground meat to the wok.
  14. 14Once the meat is cooked through, add in the green beans.
  15. 15Give it a quick toss.
  16. 16Pour in the prepared sauce.
  17. 17Cook for about 2-3 minutes if you like your green beans crunchy.
  18. 18Pour in the cornstarch slurry (1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water).
  19. 19Turn the heat off and then add in the tofu.
  20. 20Add a little drizzle of sesame oil.
  21. 21Give it one more gentle toss and dinner's ready.

  • 1 lb green beans
  • 14 oz firm tofu
  • 0.5 lb ground pork, turkey, or chicken
  • 5 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 0.75 cup water or chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1.5 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp chicken bouillon
  • 0.25 tsp white or black pepper
  • cooking oil
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp sesame oil

Tips

  • For a better hold to stir-fry, make sure to buy firm tofu.
  • The curly end of green beans is edible.
  • If you want to make this vegetarian, just leave out the meat.
  • If you like your green beans on the crunchy side, leave them in for about 2-3 minutes.
