Directions

  1. 1Wash and soak lentil mash for 90 minutes.
  2. 2Boil lentil mash in pan with water (one and a half inches above lentils) and add turmeric powder and salt on high flame; once boiling, reduce to medium heat and cook for 30 minutes.
  3. 3Heat oil in a pan, add chopped onions and cook until light pink.
  4. 4Add chopped green chillies, tomatoes, and garlic to the pan and cook for one minute.
  5. 5Add chilli powder, salt, coriander powder, cumin powder, black pepper powder, and hot spice; fry for 2-3 minutes.
  6. 6Add red peppers and cook for 5 minutes.
  7. 7Stir in the boiled lentil mash, keeping the cooking water, and mix for 2-3 minutes.
  8. 8Add three cups of the lentil cooking water and dry on high flame.
  9. 9Garnish with finely chopped ginger, green chilli, and fresh green coriander, then cover and cook for 5 minutes before serving.

  • 0.5 kg lentil mash
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 kg tomato
  • 7-8 garlic
  • 1 cup oil
  • 3 onion, chopped
  • 4-5 green chilli, chopped
  • 1 tsp chilli powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 0.5 tsp cumin powder
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1 tsp hot spice
  • 4 red pepper
  • to taste ginger, finely chopped
  • to taste green chilli, chopped
  • to taste fresh green coriander, chopped
