Directions

  1. 1Place the diced apples in a saucepan along with the sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon.
  2. 2Place the pot over medium heat and cook for 10-12 minutes until the apples start to soften but don't fully break down.
  3. 3Leave the apple mixture to cool completely.
  4. 4Take one of your 10 x 15 cm puff pastry sheets and place a generous amount of the apple mixture at one end.
  5. 5Fold the puff pastry over to create a small envelope shape, then use a fork to crimp the edges securely.
  6. 6Place the filled puff pastries in the freezer for at least 1 hour before cooking.
  7. 7Preheat your oil to 180°C (356°F).
  8. 8Fry the apple pies straight from the freezer for 7-8 minutes until golden brown on the outside.
  9. 9Remove from the oil, let them drain, and cool for at least 5 minutes before serving.

  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 juice of lemon
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 4 sheets puff pastry, cut into 10cm x 15cm (4 in x 6 in) rectangles
