Directions
1
Soak 2 cups of chana dal for 3-4 hours.
2
Add the soaked dal, chicken, salt, and turmeric to the Instant Pot and cook for 20 minutes.
3
Finely chop one onion.
4
Heat oil in a steel pan and sauté the chopped onion until golden.
5
Chop tomatoes and set aside for later use.
6
Once the Instant Pot pressure is released, remove the chicken and shred it using a chicken shredder.
7
Add ginger garlic paste to the golden onions.
8
Add the shredded chicken and green chilies to the pan.
9
Add salt, red chili powder, coriander powder, and turmeric to the chicken and fry well.
10
Add the chopped tomatoes to the chicken mixture and fry.
11
Add some water to prevent sticking and continue frying.
12
Blend the cooked dal using a hand blender or a regular blender until smooth.
13
Combine the blended dal with the chicken mixture in a deep pot.
14
Use a madhani (wooden hand blender) to "ghota" (mash and mix) the dal and chicken until the chicken shreds separate.
15
Prepare a tempering by frying green chilies and cumin in oil, then pour it over the dal.
