Crispy Baked Tofu with Baking Soda

Directions

  1. 1Mix tap-hot water, baking soda, and cornflour in a bowl to create a slurry.
  2. 2Add the tofu pieces into the slurry and let them sit for a couple of minutes.
  3. 3Remove the tofu from the slurry and place in a pre-heated air fryer at 200°C for 10-12 minutes or on a non-stick tray in the oven for approximately 20 minutes until golden and crispy.

Ingredients

  • 1 block firm tofu
  • 1/4 cup tap-hot water
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tbsp cornflour

Tips

  • If using extra-firm or super-firm tofu, you may need to soak it in the slurry longer than a couple of minutes.
  • The change to the texture of the tofu varies depending on the type of tofu used.
