Directions
1
Activate the yeast with warm water and sugar.
2
Mix it and set it aside to let it activate for at least 5 minutes.
3
Add water, milk, and flour into a pan to make the water roux.
4
Whisk the mixture until it thickens into a paste.
5
Combine flour, sugar, water roux, one room temperature egg, and softened room temperature butter in a large bowl.
6
Mix until everything comes together and forms a ball.
7
Knead the dough for about 8 minutes.
8
Cover the dough in an oiled bowl and place it in a warm area to rise for an hour.
9
After rising, place the dough on a floured surface.
10
Cut the dough into desired roll sizes (about 8 rolls).
11
Take each piece of dough, pull and tuck to the bottom, then roll it on the surface to give it a round shape.
12
Place the formed rolls into a pan.
13
Cover the rolls again and let them rise in another warm area for about 45 minutes.
14
After rising, brush the rolls with an egg wash.
15
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
16
Bake the rolls for about 15 to 18 minutes.
17
Once done, brush the hot rolls with butter.

Tips
The paste made of water, milk, and flour helps the rolls to be more fluffy, moist, and stay softer and fresher longer.
If you don't use instant yeast, you'll have to let your dough rise longer.
Baking time depends on your oven.
Brush the rolls with butter while they are hot.
Next time, I'll definitely be trying some honey butter.
