Crispy Onion Patties

Directions

  1. 1Whisk together the flour, cornmeal, cornstarch, sugar, baking powder, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in a large mixing bowl.
  2. 2Add the diced onions and milk to the dry ingredients and stir to combine.
  3. 3Heat peanut oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. 4Portion the batter into the skillet using a half-cup scoop, being careful not to overcrowd the pan.
  5. 5Cook for 2 to 3 minutes until golden brown on the bottom, then flip.
  6. 6Remove the patties and place them onto a wire rack.

  • 2 tsp white granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 2 1/2 cup sweet vidalia onion, diced
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 inch peanut oil
