Easy Rice Paper Dumplings

Directions

  1. 1Moisten the bench a little with water from a clean spray bottle.
  2. 2Lay out your rice paper on the moistened bench.
  3. 3Spritz water all over the rice paper pretty generously.
  4. 4Add your chosen filling to the rice paper. Ensure the mixture isn't too wet.
  5. 5Fold the rice paper so there are a few layers of paper on both sides of the dumpling.
  6. 6Spread the folded dumplings out in a large frying pan with some oil.
  7. 7Cook over low-medium heat until crispy and cooked through.
  8. 8Serve the dumplings with a soy vinegar dipping sauce, a good drizzle of homemade chili oil, and fresh spring onions or herbs.

  • 300 g peeled, raw deveined prawns
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 cm piece ginger
  • 2 small spring onions
  • 1 pinch white pepper
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 0.5 tsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp corn starch
  • oil
  • soy vinegar dipping sauce
  • homemade chili oil
  • fresh spring onions or maybe some herbs

Tips

  • Moisten the rice paper generously with a spray bottle to allow more time for folding multiple dumplings at once.
  • Ensure the filling mixture isn't too wet to prevent the dumplings from becoming soggy.
  • Cook over low-medium heat to prevent burning and bursting.
  • Microwave a small spoonful of the filling before using to taste and adjust seasoning.
