Sweet and Sour Chicken Balls

Directions

  1. 1Cube the chicken breast into bite-sized pieces.
  2. 2Add chicken to a bowl.
  3. 3Add some sugar to the chicken.
  4. 4Add sesame oil to the chicken.
  5. 5Add white pepper to the chicken.
  6. 6Add minced garlic to the chicken.
  7. 7Add about a teaspoon and a half of baking soda to the chicken.
  8. 8Mix the chicken and seasoning together.
  9. 9Set the seasoned chicken aside.
  10. 10For the wet batter, add 1 cup of flour to a bowl.
  11. 11Add about half a cup of cornstarch to the flour.
  12. 12Add some white pepper to the dry ingredients.
  13. 13Sprinkle in a bit of sugar (optional).
  14. 14Add a sprinkle of salt.
  15. 15Add a teaspoon or so of baking soda.
  16. 16Add about a cup of water and whisk until it resembles pancake batter consistency.
  17. 17Coat the chicken pieces in cornstarch.
  18. 18Heat oil in a frying pan.
  19. 19Grab a piece of chicken, dip it into the wet batter, and place it into the hot oil.
  20. 20Repeat the frying process in batches until all chicken is cooked and golden brown.
  21. 21For the sweet and sour sauce, add ketchup to a small bowl.
  22. 22Add brown sugar to the ketchup.
  23. 23Add lemon juice (or vinegar) to the mixture.
  24. 24Optionally, add a splash of red dye to the sauce for color.
  25. 25Serve the chicken balls with the sweet and sour sauce.
