Directions

  1. 1In a mixing bowl, combine milk, yeast, sugar, vegetable oil, flour, salt, and baking powder.
  2. 2Blend on medium speed for about 7-8 minutes.
  3. 3Roll out the dough on the work surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  4. 4Use a 3 inches cutter to cut the dough into circles.
  5. 5Brush a thin layer of oil on the surface of each dough circle.
  6. 6Fold the dough to shape the bun and gently press it.
  7. 7Use a towel to cover the tray with the buns and let the buns rise at room temperature until double in size; takes about 60 minutes.
  8. 8Put the buns in a steamer.
  9. 9Place the bamboo steamer over a pan with boiling water.
  10. 10Cook for 8 minutes with medium heat, then turn off the heat and rest the buns about 5 minutes before lifting the cover.
