Make the filling with 1 pound of ground beef, 1 and 1/2 cups of short grain rice, 1/2 tablespoon of allspice, 1 tablespoon of tomato paste, 1 tablespoon of pepper paste, and 1 tablespoon of salt.
Prepare the onions: cut each end off and pull the outermost layer. Meanwhile, put a big pot of water to boil.
Make a slit from one side of each onion all the way through to the inside layer, without cutting all the way through.
Boil the onions for 5 to 7 minutes until tender enough to peel each layer.
Prepare the sauce with 2 and 1/2 cups of plain tomato sauce, 1 tablespoon of salt, and 1 large tablespoon of pepper paste. Thin the sauce out with about a cup and a half of very hot water.
Take about a tablespoon and a half of filling and roll it into each individual pedal of the onion.
Lay the stuffed onions nicely next to each other in a baking dish lined with olive oil.
Pour the sauce on top and bake at 350 for 45 minutes.
