Kentucky Butter Cookies

Directions

  1. 1Take a stick of softened butter, a third cup of white sugar, and two tablespoons of brown sugar and cream them together.
  2. 2Add in one egg and a teaspoon of vanilla and continue mixing.
  3. 3Add in a cup and a half of all-purpose flour, a teaspoon of baking powder, and a quarter teaspoon of salt and mix until just combined; then stop mixing.
  4. 4Roll the dough into balls about two tablespoon size and flatten them down.
  5. 5Bake the cookies for 10 to 11 minutes at 350°F.
  6. 6While the cookies are baking, melt two tablespoons of butter for the butter sauce.
  7. 7Add in a quarter cup of powdered sugar, two teaspoons of water, and a quarter teaspoon of vanilla extract and mix until the powdered sugar is dissolved.
  8. 8Do not bring the butter sauce to a boil, then remove it from the heat and let it set for about 5 minutes to thicken up.
  9. 9When the cookies are out of the oven, let them cool a little before topping them with the butter sauce.
  10. 10Let the cookies cool completely before dusting them with a little bit of powdered sugar.
