Season the shrimp with the salt and black pepper.

Toss the shrimp with 1 tbsp of olive oil.

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Add the shrimp and cook for 3–4 minutes, flipping halfway through.

During the last 30 seconds of cooking, add ½ tbsp soy sauce and toss to coat.

Remove the shrimp from the pan and set aside.

In the same skillet, add 1 tbsp olive oil if needed.

Add the onion, garlic, and ginger and sauté for 3–4 minutes until fragrant and softened.

Stir in the gochujang and cook for about 1 minute.
