Salted Brown Butter Maple Syrup

Directions

  1. 1Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  2. 2Cook the butter, swirling occasionally, until it foams, smells nutty, and turns a deep golden brown.
  3. 3Immediately stir in the maple syrup.
  4. 4Add the salt and whisk until smooth.
  5. 5Simmer the mixture together to allow flavors to meld, then remove from heat.
  6. 6Stir in the vanilla if using.
  7. 7Pour into a jar and let cool slightly to thicken.

  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1/4 tsp flaky salt
  • vanilla (optional)

Tips

  • The syrup thickens as it sits.
