Cheddar Bay Sausage Balls

Directions

  1. 1Combine the pound of sharp cheddar cheese, pound of sausage, and box of Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuit Mix in a big bowl.
  2. 2Mix the ingredients thoroughly, preferably by hand with gloves.
  3. 3Set the mixture aside.
  4. 4Form nice-sized little balls from the mixture.
  5. 5Place the balls into an aluminum pan.
  6. 6Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes for small balls or 25-30 minutes for larger muffin-sized balls.
  7. 7While the sausage balls are baking, melt a quarter stick of butter in the microwave.
  8. 8Once baked, remove the sausage balls from the oven using a hot pad.
  9. 9Drop the hot sausage balls into the melted butter and baste them.
  10. 10Let the sausage balls cool for 10 minutes to soak up all the butter.
  11. 11Use a butter knife to work around the outside of the muffin cups or pan to easily remove the sausage balls.

Tips

  • Use Colby Jack cheese if sharp cheddar is not available.
  • You can substitute Bisquick for the Red Lobster biscuit mix.

  • Greasing the pan is not necessary as the sausage will be greasy enough.
  • Let the cooked sausage balls cool for 10 minutes to soak up the butter.
