Take croissants and cut them in half.

Place the croissants on a baking sheet and surround them with shredded Gruyere cheese, creating a cheese skirt.

Melt butter and oil in a pot.

Add sliced onions and salt to the pot, then caramelize them.

Add minced garlic to the caramelized onions.
