3Add the chopped onion and sauté it until golden brown.
4Add a heaping two tablespoons of ginger and garlic paste.
5Let it sit on top of the onions for a second to warm up to prevent splattering, then stir until it no longer smells raw.
6Add the fresh tomatoes and green chilies.
7Add Fadwa Masala Daal Masala, Garam Masala, coriander cumin, salt, and red chili powder.
8Sauté all the seasonings, scraping the bottom of the Instant Pot to prevent burning.
9Add a little bit of water to loosen it up.
10Add two cups of washed and drained masoor dal (split red lentils).
11Add double the amount of water (four cups) and a little extra salt to the water.
12Pressure cook on high with natural release. For suggested times based on desired softness, refer to the caption (7 minutes for textured daal, 9 minutes for softer daal).
13Once cooked, stir it up and ensure it's the desired texture.
14Garnish with chopped cilantro.

Tips
You can adjust the red chili powder to your taste. If the bottom of the Instant Pot starts to burn, scrape it to prevent a food burn warning. You can add more water to the daal if needed after cooking to achieve desired consistency.
