Directions

  1. 1Mix half a cup of soy sauce.
  2. 2Add half a cup of mirin.
  3. 3Add 4 tablespoons of sugar.
  4. 4Whisk until combined.
  5. 5Pour the mixture into a pan.
  6. 6Simmer on medium-low for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. 7Once the sauce thickens, it is ready.
  8. 8Optionally, add a quarter teaspoon of chili flakes for spice.
  9. 9Optionally, add a teaspoon of sesame oil for umami.
  10. 10Once completely cooled, the sauce can be used to marinate chicken.
  11. 11Serve with rice.
