Directions
1
Add a quarter cup of warm water to a large bowl.
2
Add one tablespoon of active dry yeast.
3
Add a little bit of sugar to help wake up the yeast.
4
Stir the yeast mixture and let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes until it gets foamy.
5
While the yeast wakes up, combine one cup of whole milk and a quarter cup of salted butter.
6
Microwave the milk and butter mixture until the butter is just melted, not boiling hot.
7
Add the butter-milk mixture to the yeast mixture.
8
Add one large egg.
9
Add a quarter cup of sugar.
10
Add three and a half cups of bread flour.
11
Mix it all together until it forms a shaggy dough.
12
Knead the dough by hand until it looks very smooth, soft, and stretchy.
13
Wipe out the bowl and give it a little bit of oil.
14
Flip the dough over once or twice to coat it.
15
Cover the bowl and let the dough rise for about one hour until it's doubled in size.
16
Punch down the doubled-up dough.
17
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface.
18
Portion out the dough into about 16 equal portions by weighing the dough and dividing by 16.
19
Shape each dough portion by simply pushing the edges up underneath itself to create a round top.
20
Evenly space the shaped rolls in a buttered baking dish.
21
Cover the baking dish and let the rolls rest and rise until they are fluffy and soft for about another hour.
22
Bake the rolls at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for about 15-18 minutes.
23
Once out of the oven, brush them with some butter.
