Super Simple Mongolian Chicken Dinner

Directions

  1. 1Add chicken thighs to your crockpot and spread them out across the bottom.
  2. 2Add 1/2 cup of light soy sauce or coco aminos.
  3. 3Add 1/2 cup of dark brown sugar.
  4. 4Add 1/4 cup of hoisin sauce.
  5. 5Add 2 tablespoons of minced garlic.
  6. 6Add 2 teaspoons of ginger paste.
  7. 7Add red pepper flakes (as much as you want).
  8. 8Whisk everything until it looks beautifully combined.
  9. 9Pour the sauce over the chicken thighs.
  10. 10Toss the chicken to make sure everything is completely covered.
  11. 11Set crockpot to low for 6-8 hours and wait.
  12. 12Alternatively, put the chicken in a baking dish and bake at 400 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
  13. 13Set chicken aside. Pour all juices into a saucepan.
  14. 14Add 2 tablespoons of cold water and 2 tablespoons of cornstarch to the saucepan.
  15. 15Whisk until you have a beautiful cornstarch slurry.
  16. 16Pour slurry into the saucepan and stir over heat until it starts to boil and thicken.
  17. 17Get it off the heat.
  18. 18Put noodles or rice in a bowl, add the chicken, drizzle with sauce, sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions.
