Smoked Sausage Gravy with Homemade Biscuits

Directions

  1. 1Place wire rack over a cast iron skillet.
  2. 2Place sausage rolls on the wire rack over the skillet.
  3. 3Place rack and skillet in the Camp Chef at 250 degrees for about an hour.
  4. 4Put the smoked sausages back in the pan.
  5. 5Brown the sausage, add some flour, and mix well.
  6. 6Add milk and stir.
  7. 7Keep stirring until it thickens.
  8. 8Add cracked pepper and Himalayan sea salt.
  9. 9Cube cold butter.
  10. 10Add butter cubes into 2 cups of self-rising flour and mix together.
  11. 11Add a cup of buttermilk and fold together.
  12. 12Mash and fold the dough about five or six times.
  13. 13Use cookie cutters to form biscuits.
  14. 14Preheat cast iron pan with some butter.
  15. 15Throw the biscuits into the preheated pan.
  16. 16Place pan in the Camp Chef, cranked up to 425 degrees for about 15 minutes.
  17. 17Brush with a little more butter and let it go another 5 minutes.
  18. 18Split biscuit open.
  19. 19Pile the gravy over the top of it.
  20. 20Add a fried duck egg.

  • 1 roll Jimmy Dean Hot Sausage
  • flour
  • milk
  • cracked pepper
  • Himalayan sea salt
  • 1 stick cold butter
  • 2 cups self rising flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • butter
  • 1 fried duck egg
